The Village's rules, in plain words

Montgomery's Forestry Division, staffed by certified arborists, looks after about 11,000 public trees, including parkway trees (Montgomery Forestry). Removing or planting a parkway tree without Village approval is against ordinance (same page). Ordinance 1835 says right-of-way trees are maintained to ANSI A300 standards, that no resident may remove a right-of-way tree, and that written approval for any maintenance lasts only 30 days (Ordinance 1835).

Who to call

Forestry questions go to Public Works, 630-896-9241, at 991 Knell Road (Village). Live in Boulder Hill with a Montgomery mailing address? The Village says your parkway trees belong to Oswego Township's Road District instead, 630-264-4587 (Montgomery Public Works).

Replacement

The Village intends to replace properly sited parkway trees lost to poor condition, storms or accidents and runs a cost-share option that gets priority planting (Forestry).
